The Graindelavoix’s take of Messe De Notre Dame is extremely rich, from deep fried voices to lamenting high ones.

messe de notre-dame is absolutely stunning, there's something welcoming about it that you don't always find with other choral pieces

Just 26 hours of Guillaume de Machaut in one Spotify playlist. From more than 60 albums, including New York Polyphony's new paraphrase of My End Is My Beginning. http://www.spotifyclassical.com/2012/04/guillaume-de-machaut-complete.html

"Renaissance" is a bit of a vague term at best, and especially so with regard to music -- as there *was* no Renaissance in music. The term is thus generally used to cover music created during the Renaissance period. (For much the same reason, "Renaissance" has never been much used in philosophy, though marketing people have been introducing it recently; I've just been forced to call a chapter of a book "Renaissance Philosophy". We prefer the term "Early Modern", and it starts with Descartes.) The Renaissance is held to begin in the fourteenth century (though for many purposes that's much too early), so de Machaut *might* fit -- but I'd prefer the term "mediaeval", as it doesn't claim to say anything about the type of music, but is an honest and straightforward term of chronology.
