not to be that guy, but it feels relevant to say that bob’s own origin story is that when he was young he had a dream about a record store filled with all kinds of outlandish, mysterious-looking albums…and his career ever since has been him trying to make those albums real

without question the only page on this site where i can look at the entire 20 weekly top tracks and i’ve already given all 20 of them a ♥︎ fav. i don’t think i could find another artist’s weekly chart with even just a top 5 like that

i can’t reply to him directly because he was intimidated by my GBV IQ and blocked me, but somebody please tell vietmom that while i await rip van winkle with open ears, i wouldn’t say i’m “stoked” for it. also please congratulate him on the existence of “anthem part 3”

i can't fathom how much this band instantly clicked for me the moment i heard Game of Pricks. everything i have heard from this band is so fucking amazing, whenever i feel like shit i know i have bob's music to listen to when i'm down. easily my 2nd favorite band ever now

Not a fan of the Welshpool Frillies album artwork, but you can't deliver a Class Clown Spots A UFO or Please Be Honest everytime, I guess

I mainly just don't like the font that was chosen but the covers have gotten less interesting lately with the exception of Tremblers and Goggles by Rank

I think the main thing that's throwing me off here is the font, yeah. I think they used the same one on Surrender Your Poppy Field and that was a lowlight in recent year's album covers as well

alright, <la la land> is the best GBV album by this lineup (2016-present) by far. new pollard albums are always at a disadvantage because if you’re in the mood for him there are at least a dozen classic releases that are simply impossible to top…but i’m gonna spend some more time with it and see what happens. <tremblers> impressed me last year, by late era GBV standards, but it can’t hold a candle to this one

for me this was always one of those bands you've always heard of but never really get into, which is why I'm so fucking grateful to The IT Crowd for finally letting me actually listen to and fall in love with them

You've probably checked out the classics (Bee Thousand, Alien Lanes, etc) but I'd recommend giving Warp And Woof and Zeppelin Over China a go, I think those are really underrated

though i’m still under 35, it was a long ass time ago when i first got into GBV at age 17. best time to do it. those arcane lo-fi albums feel absolutely unbelievable when you’re a teenager

The last time I saw them I spent 80 percent of the show with a very drunk 21 or 22 year old with his arm around me. He kept putting it around me and I kept shrugging him off for the first 10 songs. I gave up and we just spent the last 30 singing together. I was more than twice his age and we had never met, it was fun and I probably spared a woman felling sexually harassed.

haven't seen much mention anywhere, but i had a pleasantly surprising experience catching up on GBV today. i wasn't expecting much, but i think <tremblers and goggles> is the best album this lineup has made to date, and by a wide margin (in other words the best pollard project since the end of 2016, if i'm not forgetting anything big). the two new singles they put out after the album were a margin or two above recent standards as well. and the <scalping the guru> '90s EP reshuffle was a predictably strong listen to cap it all off (and hey, now that pollard's spent some quality time with the classics again, maybe they'll even rub off on him a bit). pretty much everything i heard today was markedly better than i ever expected to hear from them again – the fading captain burns bright once more...

Tremblers And Goggles is one of the strongest of the modern albums, I think. Maybe even the best.
