back in the '80s, i loved Green on Red's live shows. i saw them fairly regularly when they would come to San Francisco . first at the legendary Mabuhay Gardens and then at the Monday night shows at the I-Beam. Green on Red and Thin White Rope, who i never saw live back then, helped prepare the ground for the whole alternative country and its psychedelic western sub-genre. Thanks guys!

Shame there are no full tracks listenable here on Last FM as this is one of the greatest least widely known bands of the last 25 years. If you like current bands like Wilco you can trace the development of what is now known as "alt country" back directly through this band (and on of course back to others).

Interesting band desc. The Paisley Underground generally wasn't that satisfying as psychedelia anyway. Presenting GOR as proto-alt:country has made me like them more. What should I listen to next? ;-)
