I became acquainted with Gordon's work when I was given "The Wreck of The Edmund Fitzgerald" as a topic to write a paper on for a Creative Writing class in college. What a masterpiece of poetic brilliance that was. He had so many others, and for me, such a relaxing, soothing voice. RIP to one of the greatest songwriters of all-time.

The greatest folk artist of all time as far as I'm concerned. RIP, sir. Thank you for the music.

This man's voice is the sound of my childhood. He was the first artist I truly fell in love with and have had a lasting connection with from a very young age. There's nothing quite like Lightfoot.

Gord is a legend. He is underrated, true. But, if you live in the Midwest, everyone knows and loves the Edmund Fitzgerald. It's such a powerful song.
