8:01 It's like the music is crying out to my soul. The taught violin strings are being stretched, wailing and at the same time resting in a river flowing down an endless cliff. And then around 9:20 it explodes as the drums kick in with the booming thunder and building up the cymbals provide the lightning to this perfect storm. Except that it is imperfect, the speed of sound is quicker than the speed of light in this case. The rain is steady and continues to fall with subtle changes in its downpour that no one notes but whose vicissitudes have altered significantly nonetheless. Now the taught despairing violins are merely a background accompaniment, they are still wailing, tears of diamonds still flowing down their cheeks but their grief is drowned by the rain. The forces of nature gather themselves and for a moment their is silence. And then building up again with the smooth keys of the piano and with the help of the drums and the guitar, the crescendo approaches. A constant sequence of crescendos and decrescendoes. Haven't I been here before? Deja vu. Except that it's not, each seemingly repeated routine is fresh with new insights into my soul and into the tempestuous seas of my consciousness. And then suddenly, from the steady deluge of aural delight a jagged peak with a jagged edge is reached, too high to be a crescendo. There are rocks everywhere. Stones borne of the rocks that are borne of the boulders that are borne of the mountain. The mountain on who's summit I stand. One foot balanced on an imbalanced rock and the other in mid air, hanging over the drop. And my equilibrium is stable. I am as stable as I would be on a matte floor stage. If I fall, I fall. So it goes. [part 1/2] ~fapfinity [page2]

Strings that begin at 6:02 are the most beautiful sound I've ever heard. Short albeit very moving, it's quite the heart of the song for me. [3] ...and the guitar melody that overlaps them is just... devastating to me. One of the best moments in their career.

Those strings are AMAZING. The second heart of the song for me begins at 12:34...

There's a deliberate and metropolitical urgency that starts at about 9:30. Yeah, metropolitical. That'd be a good word to add to the dictionary.
