Biography
Gilberto Alves (born as Gilberto Alves Martins) was born in Apr 15, 1915, in Rio de Janeiro. At 15, meets Jacob do Bandolim, and soom another great brazilian stars, as Grande Othelo e Sílvio Caldas.
In 1935 the radialist Almirante invited Gilberto for his show in Rádio Club do Brasil, where start his career. His first recording was in 1938: "Favela dos meus amores" (Roberto Cunha) and "Mulher, toma juízo" (Ataulfo Alves e Roberto Cunha).
His big hits was: Trá-lá-lá, A vida continua, Uma grande dor não se esquece, Adeus, Um sonho para dois, Silêncio, Natureza bela, Soluços, Algum dia te direi, Pombo correio, Cecília, Saudade de Petrópolis, Santa Terezinha, Sinfonia dos tamancos, Que bonito papel, Barco perdido, Rosa Maria e muitos outros.
Gilberto Alves died in Jun 4, 1992.
