‘NOT BY THE MOON’ is the title track and third track from GOT7’s eleventh mini album ‘DYE’ released on April 20th, 2020.
The track is a synth-pop ballad featuring many trap influences and sounds. The song also stands out with its well renowned line-up of producers and songwriters, such as J.Y. Park and songwriting duo Jakob Mihoubi and Rudy Daouk. ‘NOT BY THE MOON’ sets a darker tone for the EP and incorporates a certain heaviness and tragic sound in its production to produce more of a classical vibe.
“The title track exploded a unique synergy with GOT7 as JYP's head Park Jinyoung participated in writing, composing and arranging lyrics. The dark melody spreads like a gradation, leading the chorus. "You're the reason why I'm alive in the world that dyed me," "Don't let go of this hand that you held again," and "Don't swear to change every day like the moon," adding heavy sounds and attractive voices with mournful sincerity to maximize the echo of the song.”
