Released in 1994, Teenager of the Year was Frank Black’s second solo album, produced by former Pere Ubu member Eric Drew Feldman, who also played keyboards. This album is often cited as the high-point of Francis' post-Pixies catalogue, even being named to Pitchfork's "Top 100 Albums of the 90's". Long considered a testament to Frank Black's songwriting skills as well as his virtue as a performer, Teenager also features work by several backing musicians, including Pixies guitarist Joey Santiago and guitarist Lyle Workman. Although not originally well-received, the record is now widely praised by both critics and fans as his strongest post-Pixies moment.
