“Highest Building” is the first song on Flume’s 2022 album "Palaces". The song marks the first collaboration between Flume and French artist Oklou, who is responsible for the vocals on the track. The song was first premiered and performed at Coachella in April 2022.
In an interview with , Flume discusses the inception of the song and the influence of SOPHIE:
“ had many different iterations and it took a second to get it to where it is. It is pretty turbo, with lots of full on "sound design stuff”. The main “intense” sound was one that SOPHIE, one of my all-time inspirations, showed me how to make."
