She's a great songwriter and singer. This chord progression is very unsettling, which fits the lyrics really well.

v The "drums" are actually a recording of a machine at a bottle-making factory! "On the first night of recording with Charley, we walked by this bottle-making factory. The door was open and you could hear a machine running. We both had our recorders with us and we agreed that the sound would be good for the song "Jonathan". Juan, the guy working the night shift at the factory, let us walk through and record the sound of the machine. That was the moment where I said, 'Oh, we're not making demos - this is going to be it. Me and Charley are going to make a record right now.' And then it just got fun."

That is small fry compared to 'When The Pawn...' but even that isn't the longest, ha. Btw I love this song, beautiful honest lyrics (as to be expect from Fiona anyway, lol). Kiss me while I calculate and calibrate and heaven's sake don't make me explain.

"The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than the Driver of the Screw and Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do" ...well that's the longest album title EVER

"But I like watching you live" must be my favorite line of the whole album. Can't tell if it's the sweetest thing you could say to someone or if it's bitterly sadistic. [2]
