Patton's nasal voice in here sounds so weird, compared to his later work, LOL!

It became better, and he started using more vocal techniques too, that's what happened ;)

Damn near perfect record (as with most of FNM's discography) but I will never, -ever- understand why they wanted "The Cowboy Song" to be a b-side while putting their cover of "War Pigs" on the record instead. I like their cover of "War Pigs" for what it is, sure, but you can't out-Sabbath.. Well.. Black Sabbath, and "The Cowboy Song" is incredible, and if you love this record and haven't heard it, you're missing out.

Rip off ? RHCP wouldn't make an album like this one, they don't have the talent. If anything, FnM did 1000x better with ONE album what RHCP tried to do their whole career.

Great! At first, I couldn't believe that Mike Patton was the singer on this album.

Took me a few years of re-visiting this band to finally get into Mike Patton's voice, but now that I have, this is absolutely fantastic!

10/10 [2] One of my favorite albums of all time, and certainly the most important one to me personally. Billy Gould really owns this one. Dat bass throughout the whole album... The bounce, the tone, everything...

@I0O What exactly are you saying "no." to? What I said is historical fact. Look it up. No one band created "Funk Metal."

Epic is the only shit song. Rest of the album is good but it is also a bit overrated.

How and why do people think this album "rips off" the Red Hot Chili Peppers? For starters RHCP didn't invent "funk metal" or whatever you want to label this type of music. Bad Brains, Fishbone, Malfunkshun and both FNM and Mr. Bungle, among others, were playing funk metal back in the early- and mid-80s. RHCP certainly don't have any claim to being the sole creator of that sound. Beyond that, this doesn't sound much like the Chili Peppers at all beyond perhaps a couple of tracks. For the most part, at least at this point and beyond, Faith No More had a much more metallic sound than RHCP ever had, in addition to FNM incorporating a lot of other types of music that the Chili Peppers never played.

Perfect album, all songs are so good. I like how every song is so different from other and you still know it's the same album. This album opened my mind back in 2011, FNM remained as one of favourite bands ever since.

where do all these people come from that combine chili peppers with faith no more every time? they sound so different! you can't compare the guitar works of the guitarists, you even can't compare the bass lines and jesus, who in the world would compare the singers?!? Both bands sound great, but chili peppers is way more funk to my ears, while faith no more have more rock elements in their sound.

I agree with fozzi26, but I still find this album almost flawless. Really awesome album, followed up by an even more awesome album known as Angel Dust :D

Its got its moments, and i understand the appeal, but I find Pattons vocals on this album extremely grating every time he goes high pitch. Too squeaky for me. Im glad he changed his style after this and I think it benefits the band greatly, because to me the next 3 albums are all amazing in their own rights. The real Thing and From Out of Nowhere are still great though!

Faith No Mores first 3 albums combine the right amount of rock and funk together, love Mike Pattons voice on this especially in 'From Out Of Nowhere', 'Zombie Eaters' and 'The Real Thing'

This album is totally amazing, but Patton's vocals aren't really aging well, imo. Just felt that way while listening the other day.
