Inspired by, and borrowing some of its lyrics from an older folk song ("Cocaine Blues" by Rev. Gary Davis), FIDLAR’s “Cocaine” is a louder punk mash-up of new and old, similar to Bradley Nowell's oft-used songwriting approach in Sublime.
In addition to “Cocaine,” there is a bonus song titled “Cheap Cocaine” tacked on to the end of this track, in which FIDLAR’s frontman, Zac Carper, sings about his time living in his car.
The song’s music video features Nick Offerman, best known as Parks and Recreation character Ron Swanson, strung out and wandering L.A.
Of additional note, “Cocaine” was featured on the soundtrack for the video game Grand Theft Auto V, and on the MTV show Finding Carter.
