Credited as the first Evanescence song ever written. Amy wrote "Solitude" when she was 13, and it was later released on the Evanescence EP in 1998. Will Boyd is credited with bass, backup vocals and guitar on this work. Matt Outlaw is credited with drums on this work. This is the first in a series of four piano ballads that Amy and Ben created in a friendly writing competition (according to Ben, Amy won with "Give Unto Me"). This song, along with "Understanding", was on a compact cassette which is said by Amy to be Evanescence's first "professional" recording.
