I'm revisiting Pestiferous Hymns. And after distancing myself from Eternity for some time, I gotta say I have a whole new appreciation for the LP. I believe I was right to think the latter half of the album is better though. I really like when they let the bass be heard and you can hear the iconic sound from Gruesome and Funeral Mass.

I think the loss of Managarm on this new album is somewhat evident in their sound. The vocals seem similar, but somehow different (sounded better before imo). Also the sound and direction of the band seems a little changed; more polished, and seemingly going for a modern sound with the likes of Watain, Flagellant, etc. I'm haven't made a definitive judgment on Pestiferous, but my initial feelings are a bit up in the air at this point. I will say that Reborn through the Flame, and really the last 3 tracks, are probably most reminiscent of the previous albums, so my favorites thus far. The opener is not too shabby either in parts. I think its really just Temple of Flesh, and parts of ...of Satan's Blood and ..like 1000 Suns that bother me (again coming off a bit Watain-ish).

From the W-T-C Website ---->> We are proud to welcome one of Germany’s long serving Black Metal Bands back into the ranks of the Terror Committee and hereby announce the release of Eternity’s third full length album, entitled “Pestiferous Hymns – Rev. I-I-XXXIII”. Although the Band has added a few new elements to their music, Eternity are still sticking to with what they began 18 years ago, celebrating nothing else than Blackest Metal. The album was mixed and mastered at the "Temple of Disharmony" by A.O.D. and features some guest appearances by Drakh (Katharsis), Nocturnus Horrendus (Corpus Christii) and V- Kaos. The cover art was crafted by Saint John (www.innkshadows.com). (Details: http://w-t-c.org/__site/pages/posts/new-releases-out-now-eternity-cd-thy-darkened-shade-cd-entartung-cd150.php )

"...and the Gruesome Returns with Every Night" is kind of boring, but "Funeral Mass" has a great, thick sound.

@Master_ov_Khaos : as you can see above "There are eleven bands by the name of Eternity. Argentina (2) USA (2) Spain (1) Finland (1) Italy (1) Norway (1) Greece (1) Germany (1) Slovenia (1)" they didn't mean the german one for sure ;)

Pure blasphemic art of murder! Brilliant band; one of Germany's finest exports to say the least. Both full releases are ESSENTIAL (putting the demo, and their splits to bed easily). Heil Nordhausen, Thuringian Pagan Madness! lol

Funeral Mass is great... but man, ...and the gruesome returns with every night is something REALLY special. Suggest you seek it out, Kendoji, if you can. (hint: try slsk)

There's also a prog-metal band that was called Eternity from South Carolina, in the early/mid 90s. They changed their name to Eternity X, and then fell apart by the end of the 90s. They are allegedly trying to get back together. If you're into the Dream Theater/Fate's Warning thing, it's very good stuff.
