"Scateren" is Esem's third full-length album, released non-commercially on Kahvi on October 13th, 2005. It quickly turned into one of the netlabel scene's most successful projects, and arguably Kahvi's most downloaded release to date. The "sleeve notes" are published at Esem's website. More importantly, the free music model was chosen because of Esem's mixed feelings towards the music industry at the time.
Although released for free, the success of "Scateren" in terms of spread, and also partially licensed by Nintendo for their game "Theta", signalled the end of traditional artist/label relationships and the growing importance of artists themselves as brands and products.
