Kenji got his start as a street performer in the late 1970's and early 1980's, drawing from a wide range of classic influences such as Bob Dylan, John Lennon, and T-Rex. After unsuccessfully attempting to break into Japan's music scene which was fast adapting to the new sound of the 80's Kenji took a break from the music industry to run his family's liquor store.
