“Lucky You” marks the first collaboration between Eminem and Joyner Lucas, whom people have pointed out share many characteristics with Em in terms of rhymes and flow.

Their verses are polar opposites, a thematic structure often employed by Joyner in his songs to show opposing perspectives of the same topic (see “Ross Capicchioni” and “I’m Not Racist”).

Here, Joyner comments on how he hasn’t received any awards, although he is steadily gaining recognition. For instance, his song “I’m Not Racist” went viral in 2017.

Em’s verse, on the other hand, is about how he is at the top in terms of awards and status but is being overlooked in the current rap scene. This is a recurring theme throughout this album as well as other 2018 releases, such as the remix of “Chloraseptic.”
