Truly a legendary composer. I'd love to see a live performance of some of his pieces.

his piano concerto in a minor has probably the best closing ive heard in any piece. just a grandiose sonic dénouement

В Норвегии есть три вещи за которые ее нужно любить: фьерды, селёдка и Эдвард Григ.

welcome to academic music. we've got rules and we're not some pretentious avant-garde bs.

Academic music is what they make in conservatories when they solve harmony and counterpoint exercises. If that's what you listen to on a daily basis, I pity you. Grieg's music is definitely not academic. With "predictable" I meant that his music contains very strong harmonic mannerisms (some kind of signature). If you'd like to interpret this in a positive way: this means that it is harder to mistake a composition of Grieg for the work of any other composer.

Check out Agathe Backer-Grøndahl, a Norwegian contemporary of Edvard Grieg with her own amazing music. In 1868 she debuted with Edvard Grieg, then 26 years old, as conductor of the Philharmonic Society. If you like good classical music check her out: https://open.spotify.com/album/1zeBgIwTAY9C2T1pGkJBdf spotify:album:1zeBgIwTAY9C2T1pGkJBdf http://www.last.fm/music/Agathe+Backer+Gr%C3%B8ndahl
