The whole song is playing with two, maybe contradicting, sides. Career vs family, chasing dreams vs safety of comfort. Duncan’s singing about the coasts of gentle small town Hellevoetsluis vs those of the big city of LA. He sings of home, but what is home?
The bridge, “There’s no place like home here in Hollywood” is almost contradiction in itself, as you can read it twice: “There’s no place like home: Here in Hollywood”, meaning that he sees Hollywood as his home, or you see it the other way around, “There’s no place like home (Netherlands) here in Hollywood”, where he means that there’s no place in Hollywood that even remotely feels like home.
And it echoes from the first verse, where he asks himself “if this is home, what do I call where I came from?” Both are home, but different, and what feels more really like home?
