The album is definitely a grower. I didn't like it too much at first but after a while the songs started 'clicking' with me and now I enjoy them quite a lot.

This kind of comment can't be serious. Of course I like MP, he was in DT for two decades. But I keep coming back to DT new stuff, and I really can't stand it. It's so uninspired and by the book, it's really a shame. About Magini: his skills are, of course, from out of this world. Yet, I'm yet to see an amazing drum work from him in DT. I mean, there are a lot of high level drumming in those albums, but nothing like what MP used to do in songs like Finally Free, Honor Thy Father and The Dance of Eternity. Is there any mindblowing stuff from MM in those albums?

Surely there's some good ideas found but what really lacks is a decent song structure. There's a few transitions (on the previous album as well, I'm afraid) that make me cringe. I'd rather they take their time and revisit ideas later to really make an album that's a worthy addition to their discography.

I personally enjoy this album. I don't think its their best, but I do like it. Especially the solos. I see a lot of people saying best since Octavarium, which I thought was and still is their worst album in their catalog far. Best DT albums for me would be Scenes from A Memory, Images and Words, and Train of Thought.

meh. total average album, the lyrics suck "as most of DT song" but the music is pure repeatition of themselves. they did'nt anything that felt like a new thing on this album for me.

I didnt like it after 2 spins, but now I tend to think this album is not that bad, though, of course, it is incomparable to the previous releases with Mike

This album is pretty weak, especially considering how it was praised before the release. The main problem is the trackorder. Illumination Theory and Enemy Inside may be some of my favorite DT tracks, though.

ADToE was way better - even excluding the terrible triggered drum sound on this self-titled album.
