Sonic disco! Recommend to listen to Kingston Wall's interpretation of this song.

What? This says I've only played this track once and I'm quite certain I played this last summer multiple times!

"I've just heard the future! This is it, look no further. This single is going to change the sound of club music for the next 15 years" - Brian Eno in conversation with David Bowie, 1977.

This song was made back in 1977. Synthesizers weren't the small, portable, easy-to-use keyboards that everyone uses today. Back then, Moog Synthesizers were huge, bulky machines that could fill up an entire studio. There was no MIDI or digital mixing. It could take 2 or 3 hours of knob-twiddling and patch cord rerouting just to get the sound you wanted for the bassline. Then maybe another 2 hours to program the next sound. Everything would have been played by hand--probably on two monophonic keyboards hooked up to the huge synthesizer modules. Today, a song like this could possibly be put together in an afternoon on someone's laptop. But in 1977, this song would have taken a LONG time to record and mix. It might sound like it was written and performed by a computer, but it actually took long hours of human input and interaction to put this thing together...

40 years later, and it's still the sound of the future. One of the best songs I've ever heard 💛
