Another Place and Time is an album by American singer Donna Summer, released in 1989. Originally a huge star during the disco era in the 1970s, Summer had experimented with different styles of music during the 1980s and had released several albums with Geffen Records with varied results. She left Geffen after the release of her 1987 album All Systems Go, following a turbulent eight years during which time the label had refused to release much of her material. After originally recording "Another Place And Time" for Geffen records,David Geffen decided to release Donna from her contract. Donna was then able to shop her new album around. After an intense bidding war,Ahmet Ertugen won the right to put the album out on Atlantic records.

Stock/Aiken/Watermen had produced the set. Since 1987,Stock/Aiken/Watermen had dominated the UK charts with acts like Bananarama, Dead or Alive, Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan and had scored countless hits all over the world. They were famous for their unique "hit factory" sound, which was basically their own brand of 1980s synthpop/dance.

The resulting album, Another Place and Time was released in 1989. S/A/W wrote all ten of the tracks, with Summer being credited as co-writer on three of them. The album contained the typical "hit factory" sound for which S/A/W were famous, as well as a couple of ballads. The album made the UK top 20, and produced three Top 20 hits there in 1989. It garnered less success in the United States, but improved upon the charting of her previous album, peaking at #53. The single "This Time I Know It's For Real" also became a US Top 10 hit and gave Summer her first Gold single in six years.

A second album was planned with S/A/W, however Summer had a falling out with them and the tracks were later recorded by singer Lonnie Gordon.
