In “Agora Hills,” Doja Cat evokes the complex feelings of wanting to publicize a love that must be kept private out of necessity, and whatever that necessity may be. Throughout the track, Doja expresses her love, and even mentions her marriage.
The track’s title has been floating around for months before being unveiled as the fifth single from Doja’s fourth studio album, Scarlet. It samples Troop’s 1989 hit “All I Do Is Think of You.”
“Agora Hills” is a misspelling of the Los Angeles suburb of Agoura Hills — Doja Cat’s childhood neighbourhood — but actually refers to ‘agoraphilia’, which is “the love of public life, crowds, and activity.” In the field of sexology, it is “a fetish for having sex in public places.”
