Fantastic song, very soulful! Is that a sprinkler at the beginning? I would love to hear Gillan sing this!

Listening to the debut album "Shades Of Deep Purple" released in July 1968. Struck pay dirt in the USA but generally panned in the UK as the poor mans Vanilla Fudge. Song by Ritchie Blackmore, Jon Lord & Rod Evans.

IN MEMORY OF JON LORD - "It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Jon Lord, who suffered a fatal pulmonary embolism today, Monday 16th July at the London Clinic, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Jon was surrounded by his loving family. Jon Lord, the legendary keyboard player with Deep Purple co-wrote many of the bands legendary songs including Smoke On The Water and played with many bands and musicians throughout his career." r.i.p. :-( Thank you to Carsten for the above shout to a LastFm friend.

I don't think it sounds much like Foxy Lady at all. This song has a very simple riff, so simple I don't really see how you could say it's stolen from any piece of music. Maybe it's what they were going for, but it's little more than a homage to Foxy Lady if anything.
