Rockbird is Debbie Harry of Blondie’s second solo album. It was released on November 16, 1986 via Geffen Records in the US and Chrysalis Records in the UK. The singles included "French Kissin' in the USA", "Free to Fall" and "In Love with Love".
Debbie Harry continued to write songs after Blondie's split with guitarist Chris Stein on Rockbird. Chris Stein also played some additional guitar parts on this record as well. Additional songwriters include Seth Justman of The J. Geils Band, who also produced Rockbird, Toni C., Chuck Lorre, and Nile Rodgers of Chic, who worked with Debbie on her previous record Kookoo.
The album cover was designed by Stephen Sprouse and painted by Andy Warhol. There are four different variations of the album artwork with the lettering in either pink, orange, green or yellow.
The album received mildly positive reviews by critics and reached number 31 on UK album charts, where the album was certified gold by BPI in January of 1987. The album also charted in the US at #97, Australia at #18, New Zealand at #22, Sweden at #30 and Finland at #40.
