Late Death albums are great, but I wish they had released more pure death metal albums like this one.

It would be my favorite Death album if there were 2 more songs on it. I'd probably like it more than Scream Bloody Gore more, surprisingly.

After listening to every death album again a couple of times, Leprosy is my favorite! It's weird, on a song by song basis I'd pick TSOP but as a whole I like Leprosy more. I feel it's easier to get through all the way than TSOP, the album flys by like a breeze and you can easily listen to it 2 or 3 times in a row. You have to be way more "comitted" to do that with TSOP. The individual lenght of the songs, and album as a whole being shorter helps a lot! I hope this makes sense I lose english skills when high.

Wow, that IS crazy. Truly innovative music usually remains timeless, I suppose.

Wasn't always a big fan of Leprosy. I considered it one of Death's weakest albums for the longest time, and I really couldn't tell you why. So glad I gave it another shot! This is easily their greatest early release.

for me it was the opposite way... I first started listening to death from the last and prog power albums... I came from listening only to power heavy and thrash, never dove into extreme metal, so... when I downloaded scream bloody gore it seemed just noisecore for me at first... could not differentiate the instruments... obviously among the weeks and months it grew a lot on me and now I think it a masterpiece... but when I download leprosy I fell in love with it instantly... because its a lot more 'thrashier' and melodic than scream bloody... but a lot more raw than symbolic or perseverance (this last one the only I nowadays dislike, and the one I most liked when i STARTED listening to death hehe how ironical... but so logical at the same time...)

never thought of the drums sounding like a drum machine. they just sound loud and kind of ugly, that's all.

Especially the first four songs aren't anywhere near being bleak and dark. They're very fun to listen to, I find them rather mellow and even atmospheric, great choruses and I like the sound of the drums. They indeed often sound like it's a drum machine. But even if, it's not bad. Godflesh is a perfect example for a metal band with drum machine that sounds great, in that case probably better than it would be with a real drummer. That and the great album art (the pinky purply sky and the strange undead looking guy) create a late 80s feel in my head. Very good album but I like Human and Spiritual Healing more.

I like this album a lot! One of the best Death records. Can't get enough of this? [artist]Gruesome[/artist] is a good band that has an album similar to this. Yup, it's called [album artist=Gruesome]Savage Land[/album].

"Best death metal album of all time. Will never be topped by any band or album." Topped by Human, Individual Thought Patterns, and Symbolic.

My favourite Death album. The songs are awesome, their execution too, the cover is perfect. I also think that Chuck's best vocals are on this album.

This with Scream Bloody Gore are their best for me without a doubt. I like them much more than the following technical albums.
