it is more or less up to the level of neoclassicism ( 20's of past century ) obviously inserted within the much modern serialism (the support is of the rhythm guitar) of rock & roll. what makes the difference is the sound inventions: the growl, the downtuning. and the uncommon ability to stay on stage singing and playing remarkably technical pieces without making mistakes.

Like SBG, Leprosy, and Spiritual Healing arent good. SBG and Leprosy are atleast perfect with Spiritual Healing having like 1 OK song

I hate how fragmented my scrobbles are because of the remastered tags. So annoying...

Death not only popularized death metal, they also invented all the main subgeneres of it. Scream Bloody Gore and Leprosy are brutal death metal. Human and Individual Thought Patterns were some of the first technical death metal albums. Symbolic was an early melodeath album. and The Sound of Perseverance is an early prog death album. So even though it's true that Death didn't INVENT death metal as a whole, no other band has had such a deep impact on the genre and everything that spawns from it

I wish they continued the more straight forward death metal sound found on Scream Bloody Gore & Leprosy. I do like progressive and technical Death, but they could have evolved into something much better. However, I know Schuldiner wanted to stray away from that sound. If only Kam Lee remained in Death and Schuldiner listened to Lee. Schuldiner was such a tough musician to deal with from what I heard and read, even in the beginning. That's why Lee left and then joined Massacre. Schuldiner didn't seem to be a friendly guy with his fellow musicians (I wouldn't be friends with him, tbh despite the fact he is an influence of mine). However, he was super ultra mega nice to all of the fans. He was one of those visionary musicians who just wanted to do his thing only (it was his way or the highway), so as a result he could never keep a stable lineup. Thoughts on this? Reply.

It disheartens me that I could have managed to see Death (proto-punk) live in NYC. They canceled for some odd reason. I know I've stated it before, but I'll state it again. I'm a fan of the metal band and the proto-punk band.

Late response but yeah, it did. I liked the sound of the original CD much more, the LP sounded way too cleaned up for my taste

I think he thought Death had reached its peak with Symbolic. The Sound was not originally a Death album, so I believe he would have put Death to sleep and would have continued on with Control Denied, and yes, I agree with you, perhaps he would take the Opeth route but with Control Denied, not Death.

I like how on LastFM top-10 Death songs has songs from 5 different albums. It shows Chuck had no weak albums. And I think some songs Scream Bloody Gore or Spiritual Healing are also worthy of the Top-10.

I highly doubt Chuck Schuldiner would have been pleased with the Non:Analog - On:Stage Series released.

The joke is that the place is called "Sneed's Feed & Seed" which is clever in itself and quite funny to those with a mature sense of humour but what's really just hilarious about it is that if you look closely at the front of this store, Sneed's Feed & Seed, you can see a line that reads "Formerly Chuck's". Now, this might go over the average viewer's head as this, THIS, is peak comedy. I doubt anything will ever be as funny as the joke about Sneed's Feed & Seed. Are you ready for this one? So, like I said, the place is called "Sneed's Feed & Seed" and this sign says "Formerly Chuck's", which means that when Chuck owned the place, well, I don't have to tell you...

Can someone tell me why Spiritual Healing is considered the weaker album, imho all Death albums are masterpieces. Spiritual was essential in the transition from old school dm to technical stuff, and as far as I'm concerned its one of the best old school dm albums ever. Also, it has James Murphy, which makes it even more awesome.

Maybe because it feels like the middle ground between the old stuff and new stuff, and does neither as strong as pre and post Spiritual Healing? Just speculating.
