“The Cage” continues the themes of violence and paranoia that run throughout The Money Store. Here MC Ride raps about the conflicts of the inner city.
The context of the first verse would also suggest the cage could represent how social norms (importance of money “burning paper”, the sanctity of life (first 4 lines) and the social taboo of drugs “Ash lung blastin”) would represent certain limitations imposed by a functioning society as seen by its inhabitants.
In the case of MC Rides persona it would seem he views these limitations as arbitrary and is not concerned with the consequences of breaking out of “the cage”.
