Well... It seems a bit out of balance to see that ATCQ gets 4x as many scrobbles while they're equal giants imo, but I guess that's what being hidden from the public ear by the labels did to De La... Definitely not getting the respect they deserve!

It’s because that album is very groundbreaking. Their other music is just as good but they took some time between albums so by the time the 2nd album came out many people moved on. Now that they are available everywhere other music has greater chances of spreading and getting certified.

They took some time beween albums? De La Soul Is Dead came out two years and two months after Three Feet High & Rising; Bulhoone Mindstate followed merely another two years and a few months later... Those are very common time gaps between albums! Really nothing unusual at all there; in fact, the time gap of two-years-and-then-some between their first three albums is relatively short, compared to many other popular artists during those years (f.e. Janet, Madonna, GNR, Bon Jovi). And it's also pretty common for artists to be on the charts with a few singles in quick succession and then becoming silent while touring and while a new album is being prepared. "People moving on" doesn't seem very true to me. They're no MC Hammer or Vanilla Ice. It's really just that De La Soul's album sales have always been relatively low compared to their influence and success (and quality!!). Who can tell where that comes from? Perhaps their true fan base wasn't really that big, but nonetheless dedicated?

Really? Well, that version was slightly altered (had a really annoying sample added to the chorus), so thank God the original version is up now. But thank God even more for the whole rest of the catalogue!

Come to think of it: apparently it was the hihat they had replaced by an annoying squeeky noise.

Trugoy's death should be a bigger story than it is... for such a foundational act, it's weird how De La Soul get continuously passed over. They're better than Tribe.

Hip-hop has lost its foundational artists far too soon... we need a helpline or something.
