Really not a DT guy but not bad, minus some vocal parts. Listened to it two times just to make sure I didn't miss anything and it just made me wanna listen to Funeral Moon again, but it's not like I'm hating it, it's just there's better stuff to listen to from the perspective of time (i was in my dad's ballsack in 1992). Then again I'm not really a DT guy anyway so plz no shoot. Really love the chainsaw guitar tone FWIW

A Blaze In The Northern Sky is a timeless classic that will never get old. I still listen to it often and I am listening to it right now \m/

Some of the material had been worked on before they decided to change their direction to Black Metal, so there is a residual Death Metal aspect, for sure.

Nothing. I just realized your shouts in almost every black metal band . whatever... I'm just asking why you said something like that? ("nice death metal songs" i mean)

eyeoflord is half right. In actual fact, this is considered t be the second Norwegian black metal album ever, the first being Mayhem's "Live in Leipzig." "Soulside Journey" was a death metal record, same goes with "Deathcrush." However, with this album, (apparently) around half of the album was recorded with the intention of being death metal, but halfway through making it they decided to be black metal, so they "blackened" up the songs they had previously written for the album.

Great topic. I always wished some death metal bands actually covered this album in their death metal spirit/quality :)

The best drum work of all the Darkthrone albums. I like the sudden drum speed changes here.
