Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa

Daniel Gadd is a singer and songwriter from South Africa, based in London, UK. His first album ‘As if in a dream I drifted at sea’ was recorded by the ocean in Kalk Bay, Cape Town and sounds of the street, birds and passing trains can be heard blending into the songs. With influences ranging from early Dylan and Cohen to The Tallest Man on Earth and Laura Marling, the songs are personal and unadorned, featuring guitar and voice with the occasional harmonica and piano part. It’s an album best listened to when the rain is a-fallin', the wind is a-howlin' and your one true love just sailed away to Italy.

“On first listen this album had a similar impact on me as Bon Iver’s For Emma, Forever Ago: a songwriter isolated among the elements with his memories who emerges with a mesmerising collection of songs.” - Sylvie Simmons | MOJO
