Doubt it's any time soon. Maybe sometime later next year at best. Although they just posted about releasing a new single on the 24th of this month!

The greatness of Dir En Grey is such that there is no consensus on which is his best album or even the worst. Having said that: 1-Arche 2-WTD 3-DSS 4-Uroboros 5-Phalaris 6-Vulgar 7-TIW 8-Gauze 9-TMOAB 10-Kisou 11-Macabre

I think it's just an easy way to save money tbh, would be nice to see their finances, but I imagine covid + devalued yen is hurting (hence maybe why the EU tour happened). Especially the Otogi background, easy to write a prompt 'pregnant woman on chair disemboweled' and generate a video than pay a video editors/filmers/animators for a 5 min video that's only used as a concert backdrop. As for the new single, yeah not a good look, nor is the cover. Fingers crossed the song works

Uroboros and DSS are two of their best albums for sure. I'd personally put Arche higher but apart from that the rankings are very similar to mine! Uroboros > DSS > Kisou > TMOAB > WTD > Vulgar > Arche > Phalaris > TIW > Gauze > Macabre

"Withering to death" was the album of my edgy school years. I still love it though.

For me it's Kisou>Dum Spiro Spero>Gauze>The Insulated World>Withering to Death>Macabre >Arche>Vulgar>Uroboros>The Marrow of a Bone>Phalaris............................... But my ranking changes all the time, and to be clear, I'd rather listen to any of these albums than most of the other music that exists in the world.

VULGAR and Withering to death. I don't think I've ever listened to any of their other stuff. It's been many years and it is still sufficing.

not a bad album in their discography. Give Gauze a listen and Uroboros like the person above said, also Arche and the Insulated World

I hope they do a remake of their first three albums with the modern sound. Would be great to hear it.

I have not seen a better representation of the bipolar psycho and the clinical picture of schizophrenia than their discography, if you listen to it from the very beginning to the end.

I've been listening to this group since I was in middle school and still listen to them to this day. There is just something so captivating in their style of metal, earlier Visual-Kei looks. Everything from their early j-rock albums like Gauze, to stuff like DSS, The Unraveling, Arche, and Uroboros that feature their more Avant/Prog style. Diru opened me up to so much more music and im quite frankly not sure how. Watching this group grow from start to finish truly has been wonderful and I wish I could do it again. I LOVE DIR EN GREY!
