This album doesn't deserve to be part of CoF's 'meh' period, it's actually great and memorable. But that album cover reminds me of the times when every wannabe-artist exchanged their brushes and pencils to a cracked version of 3DS Max, lol.

I remember loving this when it came out, and...well, I still do. Of the Paul Allender-written albums after 2003, it's probably the best.

Definitely seconding the recommendation to read La Bas. Darker than any of the lyrics in this album, but so Cradle: "He establishes sepulchral beauty contests, and whichever of the truncated heads receives the prize he raises by the hair and passionately kisses the cold lips."

@ancltsagaree1 But that's what makes up the great Symphonic Black Metal bands, am I not correct? Summoning, Emperor, Dimmu Borgir, Old Man's Child, it's all low budget keyboards but it's the sound that makes up the greatness of the album.

The last half of the album is intense (minus the closing track). All the interlude tracks are the weakest the band has done though, but the real songs more than make up for it.

Finally opened it, and I think its good. Its definitely got that disgusting Thornographic stink of Nymphetamine, but it also has thrash-based, deep and solid tracks that pound you and also flow like old Cradle did. They left the nu-metal/groove stylings behind, and actually got some beautiful leads to give it some grace.

I seriously am afraid to open this. Its the first I've purchased since Midian, and if its shit, then fuck symphonic metal in general!

Better than Thornography! Midian remains my favourite for ever! They can't make music like that anymore. I hate the normal cover...which is this one! That's why I bought the special edition!

Moronically fucked up "official" ID3 tags aside(really? Do we really need our song titles to include (Album version (Explicit)) at the end of every one?), this is a great comeback album. I would've loved it if the orchestration of Damnation and a Day had returned, instead of the same synthesized orchestras you'd expect from a low budget, more underground band.

It's a lot better than Thornography. But the cover is so damn ugly..wtf? 3D cover? I'm glad I got the special edition...
