There exist at least 5 different artists named Codec, including an unsigned rock band and an electronic duo active between 1999-2003.
1. Progressive rock band: Codec is a band that makes music that is at once dangerous and beautiful, that channels the future through the past to compress and make sense of life and death. Their work deciphers the immense data of our uncertain existence and presents it on a soul level.

2. Experimental electronic duo who initially played a technoid drum'n'bass style on their debut and IDM on their follow-up who released 2 albums and a remix CD from 1999 to 2003 on Component Records run by Xyn who shortly after created the Xynthetic netlabel. Fragments,
Amalgamation a remix companion CD , and Tension 2003 which featured a remix by Gridlock.
