Yes. Robin Guthrie went as far as to call it an 'unfinished abortion'. I guess they didn't have a good time recording it.

I've recently bought this on vynil, my first vynil purchase ever. I'm very pleasant with it, this album being on of my absolute favourites. Also this album cover is S+ tier

Will never forget how back in 2007, when I was 17, I bought this album just because of the cover - I didn't really know CT, except for Carolyn's finger which was in a crappy tv commercial - and I just spent the following three months listening to it every day before going to sleep. I've never had such wonderful dreams since then.

The sound on this is unmistakably catchy and punchy, with production characteristic of the general 80s quality. Maybe that's why Robin and Elizabeth disliked this album, because it sounded a little too mainstream, unlike something like Head Over Heels. But this album is still a grand one to me, the soundscapes are melodic, yet epic and edgy like that of the previous LP, and it obviously has the characteristic Cocteau Twins dreamy goth sound, which obviously keeps it well away from becoming a mainstream record.

I disagree with this take, this is still very much a post punk album, far away from the almost adult contemporary of what they'd become from Blue Bell Knoll onwards.
