Clara Mondshine ("Au clair de la lune…") is an alias of German electronic musician Walter Bachauer who, in the 1980s, recorded several albums for Innovative Communication, a label created by Klaus Schulze.
Clara Mondshine's music is quite unique: experimental and ambient, it relies on a creative use of samplers, with ethnic and sometimes industrial influences. On promotional material it is described as Metamusik, "The European answer to the colonization of the musical environment by unimaginative Multis… Metamusik can be quite beautiful, hooked up to the new frontier of romance… Clara Mondshine dares a meta-(super) grip on the sounds of the globe for the purpose of alternative entertainment."
