Along with her singing, I also enjoy her two mid-1970s anthology TV series, "Cilla's World of Comedy" and "Cilla's Comedy Six".

Am shocked and sad to see a woman who was a massive part of my childhood has left this world. A face and voice that was always around. Cilla's gone but won't be forgotten. Ta-ra for now love, ta-ra!

Britain's class obsession has been it's eventual downfall and those from the working class who blast people from in their ranks who made good with their lives is nothing more than ghetto / slave mentality. Anyway I cannot see why people would hate on Cilla much, she seems like a sweetheart and her music is a joy.

i think cilla black gets a lot of shit for no reason. from (reverse) class snobs mostly. the stuff about her faking her accent and being a "professional scouser" irks me. if you've ever seen her acting (i love her, but she is not the best) in her comedy series, she's actually crap at doing a "posh" voice. her liverpool accent always comes through and she sounds common as muck. so there.

Cilla was recently interviewed by THE WORD – one of Britain’s top “Rock & Pop” music magazines. The multi-million selling singer chatted to them about her chart-topping pop career of the 1960s and EMI’s recently released 6-disc anthology, ‘Completely Cilla: 1963-1973′. Since THE WORD launched in 2003 it has notably interviewed many icons from the pop world. These include Paul McCartney, Prince, Nick Cave, U2, Morrissey, Björk, Oasis, David Bowie, Joni Mitchell, Amy Winehouse, Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits and Van Morrison. Make sure you don’t miss out on the magazine’s interview with Cilla which is due to be published in the August edition of the monthly magazine (issue 114). This should be on sale in all good newsagents from the 12 July 2012.

EMI release on the 23 April 2012 a 5CD boxset 'COMPLETELY CILLA: 1963-1973'. It comes with a bonus Region 0 / NTSC DVD of many previously unreleased BBC TV music performances. It's an amazing music set with 139 audio recordings all produced by George Martin!

Not many listeners eh? I try and divorce the singer from the entertainer / presenter / pension peddler she eventually morphed into (one for the UK audience only I think). Fantastic singer, but heaven forbid, I prefer the Cher version of 'Alfie' on the original soundtrack...

Here in the States, Cilla Black was very underrated, having only one true hit here: "You're My World." This was a loss for us Americans because Cilla was a singer who could stand next to Dusty and Petula Clark as one of the best female vocalists to come out of the British Invasion years.
