I went on a weeklong tour of Ireland a few years ago and every morning on the bus our tour guide played Don't Forget Your Shovel to wake us all up. He also played us Lisdoonvarna and told us the story of the matchmaking festival as we were driving through the town itself. The first thing I did after the tour was buy one of Christy's CDs, and I've been in love with his music ever since. Gotta catch a gig of his one day soon... just wish he'd come to Australia!

Here's a story about Christy. Many moons ago my wife was pregnant with our 2nd child. She was pretty scared during the pregnancy as our first son died. We went to see Christy Moore at Leeds Irish Centre and he was fantastic. However my wife was so tired she fell asleep but swore blind she heard every song! Not long after our son was born and he was fine (now 6 foot 3 and handsome!) but wouldn't settle down at night. I bought the Ride On album and played it one night while he grizzled and fretted. One minute into this song he went quiet and by the end he was sound asleep. It worked every time. Like mother like son!
