Biography
Christy Hays was born in rural central Illinois the year Led Zeppelin broke up. Raised in a musical household, she was deeply affected by the blues and other forms of American roots music. She has a penchant for Texas singer songwriters, early Bonnie Raitt, and Mississippi Hill Country Blues. Christy also owes much of her influence to traditional Old Time and Bluegrass music. Recent influences include Kathleen Edwards, Steve Earl, Lucinda Williams and James McMurtry, to name a few.
At age 23 she left Illinois and spent the next six years with her home base in Haines, Alaska. Much of the winters were spent traveling about North America as well as South East Asia and Latin America. In the fall of 2007 she left Alaska for Tennessee to fully pursue music.
Christy offers her perspective on the human condition through her original songwriting. She lives in Nashville where she plays with her band and is working on a full length album.
