More-or-less objectively speaking, "Missing You" is a tacky, cheapish track many will find easily forgettable—speaking in terms of the original (under M&R Records, 1988) and not of any if existing remasters, from de Burgh's slightly underwhelming vocals, predictable synth "oohs" and "aahs", to the okay at best production. However, I find it still quite catchy, relaxing and mellow which I appreciate a lot, year round. All of the aforementioned is pretty much in tune with mid/late 80s easy listening popular pop/rock, adult contemporary type of stuff. Still, I appreciate its straight to the point message of positive longing and reflection for a gone lover, maybe someone yet to know, making it, again, a simple snappy tune which I suppose is a "guilty pleasure" of many of us. What are we Guilty of, though... enjoying something tranquil, maybe while we're driving to work or taking a shower, or more in in general being mundane? There is nothing wrong with keeping in touch with everydayness .
