'Somersault' is Chicane's third studio album.
"That is what drove me with the new album..I wanted to create something that was different. Not only to what else is around at the moment - but also to my previous albums, which were more conceptual with a beggining, middle and end. This one is more a collection of vocal songs, lots of strong melodies. Not too much down beat stuff, It's all pretty much up. Stoned in Love is the transitional single from the album. It's close enough to what i've always done for the association with Chicane but moving more towards the structure of the album. The vibe of the album is that i've kept the dancey grooves, drums and percussion here and there but on top I've added a lot of indie guitars and song structures, so it's that amalgamation of dance and rock" (Nick Bracegirdle on 'Somersault', 2006)
After the bootlegging of what was going to be Chicane's third album 'Easy to Assemble', Nick pulled away from the spotlight and closed the deals with the Warner record company. He was now able to focus his energies on really figuring out what he wanted to do and where he wanted to go. Songs were written and tracks were recorded and through various friends and contacts Universal Music started hearing the new material and loving it. Despite the obvious progression in writing style and musical approach, conversations were had, and it was decided that the project would remain a Chicane project.
