steve albini's sound really suits this band. title track wouldn't be as great if it were not for the live ambience he captured

After knowing every chevelle song from front to back, I think this is their best album

They didn't abandon anything. The album didn't capture the sound they wanted with the producer they had.

This album shows great potential of a band at the beginning of its musical journey. Their music got much better as the albums go by. Great production for a debut (raw and uncompromising). Overall nowhere near their best, still an intriguing, trippy and rewarding record.

This is the only Chevelle that i hear any Tool influence at all. Pre-Aenima Tool.

I would be at liberty to agree with thinspirit77 verbatim. The only Chevelle worth anything.

It's too bad they abandoned the sound of this album for the cookie-cutter, formulaic sound of the last 3 albums. This is by far their best album, nothing else comes close. In fact, I'd even say that each subsequent album has gotten worse.

That's their only work i still enjoy listening to, "dirty" sound, emotion in each song and a sadly feeling in the awesome tool-inspired voices. f***ing brilliant.
