"Whoo!Let you take me out. I know what you are all about, But when I did, I wasn't trying to lead you on. Now you bring me home and tell me "good night's not enough for you". I'm sorry, baby, I didn't mean to turn you on. You read me wrong. I wasn't trying to lead you on not like you did. I didn't mean to turn you on. You read me wrong. (You read me wrong.) I wasn't trying to lead you on. I want a friend. I didn't mean to turn you on !!"

Often covered by other singers, however, for me, Cherrelle did it best. I never really liked any other covers of it better than this, the original.

I love this song. The 80's was a good era for music. I see a lot of artists today drawing inspiration from Cherrelle and her contemporaries.

I dig both Cherelle and Robert Palmer's version of this song...But remember this one the best (it was the first one I heard as a kid).

Folks talking about Robert Palmer's version....Look this is Cherrelle's song. Palmer covering it give props to how good the song is.
