"Speed Drive" is a song by Charli XCX released as a soundtrack to 2023 movie "Barbie". It was released on June 30, 2023, as a single from the album.
Charli explained to Rolling Stone: "I’ve always really liked singing about cars. For me, there is this intrinsic link between driving and music and feeling like you’re a star when you’re in a car… (I wanted “Speed Drive” to) feel quite bratty (and) about just being hot."
The song samples "Hey Mickey" by Toni Basil and interpolates "Cobrastyle" by Robyn. It was written by the singer along with Easyfun, Busy Bee, Mad Cobra, Phat Fabe, Joakim Åhlund, Klas Åhlund, Patrik Arve, Sylvia Robinson, Troyton Rami, Mike Chapman and Nicky Chinn, while Easyfun also served as its producer.
The song's title was first revealed along with Barbie The Album's tracklist on May 25, 2023.
