Charlene Meulenberg finished third at last years Dutch Idols show, but in the eyes of her many fans and the musical team behind Wouter Hamel and Giovanca (Dox Records) she was the best so far. Charlene announced she signed with the Amsterdam record label Dox Records. Charlene’s first single Take Me Away got it’s debut on a Dutch radio station called 3FM, on the popular morning show of DJ Giel Beelen.
Dox Records, the rebellious collective from a.o. Wouter Hamel, Giovanca and Benjamin Herman, followed the singer during the popular talent show on TV. They didn’t hesitate and asked Charlene to join them. Her talent and ambition fits perfectly with the record label. At the Amsterdam record company, Dox Records, artists make music with the same spirit. Lots of jazz and instrumental music (New Cool Collective, Benjamin Herman) and, since a few years, many songs from Dox’ Family. The musicians from Dox’ Family write together in changing combinations and sometimes they even perform all together. But who is part of the Dox’ Family? Benny Sings, Roos Jonker and the already known Giovanca and Wouter Hamel. The attentive listener might know producer and songwriter Dean Tippet. Together with him, Charlene is busy writing songs for her debut album.
