Where Life Springs Eternal is brilliant! The first time I listened to it I wasn't to impressed but I recently gave it another listen and I love it.

Bindrune
Bindrune still has copies of Desolate North on LP in the distro. Gatefold design. Mastered by James Plotkin. It's good to have this groundbreaking slab of woodland doom available again. goto: http://bindrunerecordings.com to get your copy today! In other News, Tanner is hard at work on new Celestiial material. I'm sure something will surface later this year as he's quite the prolific fellow.

celestiial never was meant as funeral doom imo, it's rather drony instead and doesn't have the mentality of funeral bands ^^ definitely more in the same league wih nadja, angelic process etc (=drone doom), although celestiaal's inspiration probably lies somewhere else. woodlands, woodlands.. booho

That's funny... upon listening to this again, very closely and in the absolute perfect place to get the most out of it (northern Adirondacks), and I can sort of understand the "funeral doom" tag, though it still doesn't sound like any other funeral doom I've heard. There's just something so un-doom about it. But again, I don't care about the tags, because this guy's music is amazing in just about every way. Can't wait for the new album.

I only have Desolate North and the split with Blood o the Black owl, and I like them very, very much. But in no way do they qualify, in any sense of the term, as funeral doom. The atmosphere and ambience are excellent, and the nature sounds add a unique touch (indeed what I came looking for), but funeral doom is slow and low with heavy as hell dirges emanating from a severely downtuned GUITARS. Any guitars which may or may not be in play on these songs are barely audible at best, amidst the myriad other things going on. Don't get me wrong: this is a terrific and beautiful record - I dare say close to brilliant. But if we're going to call this funeral doom, we may as well call Eminem and Dashboard Confessional funeral doom, and Sunn O))) pop music.

Celestiial's portion of the Blood of the Black Owl/Celestiial split is excellent. Here's to hoping future releases will follow in suit.

I disagree, I think it's a sub-par snooze fest for desperates who are sick of the other bands they're into.
