Carly Rae Jepsen changed the course of pop music after the release of E•MO•TION. She knows that she became the queen of pop music, cause nobody is doing like her. She gave us E•MO•TION, Dedicated and The Loneliest Time, three pop perfection albuns.

They both came from pop artists who were coming off of huge commercial success with previous releases, but were looking to make more sophisticated and mature music. In both cases the album very much underperformed commercially, but was critically very well received (much better than anything they had released before), and generated a cult following. Both artists are very much NOT known for lyrical prowess/sophistication (though Brian got some outside help in that department). Also this is obviously more subjective but I think that Brian and Carly are both pretty much the sweetest, most genuine people in existence and that really comes through in the music they make (And these are easily my 2 favorite pop albums of all time). You can even get into specifics of the tracklist like track 1 on both albums being a super happy, triumphant, romantic song, and the 5th being a much softer, introspective change of pace in both case. But yeah I think that about sums up why I made that comment haha
