Truly something unique and unparalleled. No matter how many times I listen to it or how big gaps I make between the listens - it always delivers.

As soon as I'd heard the whole album it became one of my favorite 70s records. What a perfect blend of hard rock and prog. Timeless stuff.

Outstanding album, really a standard of heavy prog. There's songs on this album that sound a lot like early Judas Priest (i.e. Rocka Rolla and Sad Wings of Destiny), blending prog and Southern Rock into a unique style which resembles proto-metal. Great stuff, everybody needs to listen to this.

Definitely one of the best albums of the entire 70's, which is really saying something.

If I didn't know this was from 72, I would have thought it was a 90s stoner rock album.

does anyone else think that in terms of flow this album really has it. One track after another flowing, sometimes you don't notice the song has changed. It really is a masterpiece, and does not receive enough praise. It really cannot be listened to by single tracks, as it is an album

Captain Beyond's debut album is one of the greatest unsung recordings in rock history. This eclectic collection of musicians incorporated pioneering metal, jazz riffs, and folk influences to create a unique listening experience. Like the B-side of the Beatles' Abbey Road, the thematic qualities of this albumb demand it not be broken up into iTune-like pieces.
