The Capoeira Twins are Tim Hancock and Ian Stratford, and were born out of one of the Midland's longest running and most respected club nights, 'Stump Juice'.

Their punky jazz style was first spotted and released by Birmingham's Rockers Hi-Fi in 1995 and released on their 'D+G' label to cult acclaim (being caned by the likes of Norman Cook and Giles Peterson amongst others). The two tracks on the single, Stump Juice Theme and Pig Lick attracted the attentions of Athletico, Dope On Plastic, Trip Do Brasil and Wall Of Sound's Mark Jones who all included them on subsequent compilations.

Nowadays they're probably best known for their stunning version of Four (4x3). Originally released on John 'Dope On Plastic' Stapleton's 'Blowpop' label at the end of 1999, it rapidly became another cult classic. Particularly pleasing for the boys was the way it defied all the pigeon holes and drew fervent support from DJs as diverse as Mr Scruff, Graeme Park, The Wiseguys, Judge Jules, Steve Lamacq, Emma B and of course Pete Tong, who loved it so much he signed it to his label ffrr and made it the first tune on that season's Essential Selection CD. Mr.Scruff's excellent remix of Four helped to make it a still highly sought after piece of vinyl.
