Debut long-playing release containing some of the Scottish band's finest moments. Produced by Stuart Murdoch, the influence of the now departed John Henderson - in many instances as a co-lead vocalist with Tracyanne Campbell - is much more pervasive on this first record. Championed from the beginning of their career by the late BBC deejay, John Peel, Camera Obscura were one of the last bands to play at Peel Acres before the untimely passing of the beloved DJ. In sum, by any objective measurement, an impressive introduction to the band; and a fascinating snapshot of the group when contrasted with the current incarnation.
